In the Nintendo 64 classic Super Mario 64, players can unlock Luigi as a playable character by completing a series of tasks. To do this, the player must first collect 100 Power Stars. Once 100 Power Stars have been collected, the player must then go to the castle courtyard and speak to the Toad standing near the cannon. The Toad will tell the player that Luigi has been captured by Bowser and is being held in the basement of the castle. The player must then use the cannon to blast into the basement and defeat Bowser. Once Bowser has been defeated, Luigi will be freed and will become a playable character.
Unlocking Luigi in Super Mario 64 gives the player access to a new set of abilities and moves. Luigi is taller and has a higher jump than Mario, making him better suited for certain levels. Luigi can also perform a unique move called the “Green Missile,” which allows him to launch himself forward at high speed. This move can be used to reach new areas or to attack enemies.
