Michael Posner is one of the most popular and richest Lawyer who was born on November 19, 1950 in Chicago, United States. Posner provided a short synopsis of his past involvement with the U.S. government during his testimony. In 1978, Posner made his first appearance before Congress. He testified before Senate Foreign Relations Committee about trade sanctions against Ugandan Idi Amin. Posner stated that this was “the first of many occasions where I saw and been part of efforts… to harness the diplomatic, economic and political power of the United States Government and be a force for good.” The United States passed a complete ban on trade with Uganda, and the Ugandan people took back control of their country within a year. He continued to talk about other shared successes, including the work he did with Andrei Sakharov (and other dissidents from the former Soviet Union), and the Helsinki process. It was in the 1980s, when President Reagan stood by Philippine “people’s power”, and made sure that Aquino took power from Marcos. It was in Northern Ireland, where George Mitchell and his Clinton Administration offered a path to peace through the Good Friday Agreement. It was also witnessed by the Bush Administration, which worked closely with Congressional leaders such as Senators Voinovich and Cardin, and Congressman Chris Smith. They played a key role in the fight against European anti-Semitism and other racial and religion persecution through the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Posner was actively involved in reporting on global human right situations through the State Department’s annual Human Rights Reports. This report provides a complete record of the human rights situation in almost 200 countries and territories around the world. It uses information from U.S. embassies, consulates, as well as other sources. Posner described the 2010 Human Rights Report as “the single most comprehensive human rights report produced by anyone in the world” at the April 2011 roll-out. He focused on refugee protection, advancing a rights-based approach to national security and combating discrimination. As a member of the White House Apparel Industry Partnership Task Force, Posner helped found the Fair Labor Association (FLA) in 1997, a multi-stakeholder initiative between apparel and footwear companies, universities and non-governmental organizations aimed at protecting the rights of workers in the apparel industry’s global supply chain.
