Mark Mitchell is one of the most popular and richest Figure Skater who was born on May 2, 1968 in Boston, United States. Mark Mitchell (born May 2 1968) is an American retired figure skater who competed in the past. He was a three-time medalist during the United States Figure Skating Championships and was ranked as high as fourth in the World Figure Skating Championships (in 1993). He is currently choreographer and coach in Boston along with Peter Johansson.
Mitchell became a professional after the 1993-94 season. In his professional and amateur time, Mitchell toured with Champions on Ice.
In 1993, he finished 2nd at the United States Figure Skating Championships, and was selected for the World team. At Worlds, he received a perfect score of 6.0 for presentation in his short program, and was in 2nd place after this portion of the competition behind Kurt Browning. In the free skate, he fell to 4th place overall, and as a result, the United States had two skater slots for the 1994 Winter Olympics because the rules at that time required a country to medal at the previous year’s World Championships to have three slots to the Olympics. This rule has since been amended.
Mitchell and Johansson were the 2003, 2006, and 2007 USFSA/PSA Developmental Coaches of the Year and the 2006 USOC Developmental Coaches of the Year.
The year 1992 was the time he took home the bronze medal in the United States Figure Skating Championships. The US were able to send three athletes on the team for participate in the Winter Olympics. The only problem was that Mitchell did not make the cut because of a medical bye that was given by Todd Eldredge. Mitchell participated in the 1992 World Figure Skating Championships and was 5th, just ahead of Eldredge.
