Yang has produced the critically acclaimed film Dark Matter over the past few years. It was directed by Chen ShiZheng and stars Chinese actors Liu Ye, and Meryl Steep. Dark Matter was premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2007 and won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize. Disney Studios sought Yang to produce High School Musical in Chinese for Chinese audiences in 2009. Shanghai Calling was her last narrative feature. It is a romantic comedy set in modern Shanghai. Yang is currently an Executive Producer for Documented, directed and written by Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist.
Yang was President of Ixtlan from 1989 to 1996. She co-founded the company with Academy Award-winning Writer/Director Oliver Stone. Yang managed all aspects of production and development. At Ixtlan, she produced The People vs. Larry Flynt, starring Woody Harrelson, Courtney Love, and Edward Norton, and directed by multiple Academy-Award-winning director Milos Forman. The film was nominated for Academy Award nominations for Best Film Director and Best Screenplay.
